1 Star Overall Video Poker
I have been going to Choctaw for years and you used to know what your comps and totals were but that has changed. Service has steadily gone downhill and is the worst that it has ever been since 2010 when I started going to the facility. You are questioned and grilled if you want to use the comps. When I call VIP at x1603, it is difficult to get anyone to answer the telephone. Then if I ask for something, it is like they want to make it difficult to use any of the "advertised" benefits of being a player. I am a diamond player and one would think that would get me some type of extra service or special service but it does not. It seems to make it even more difficult. Plus, if you complain to the Nation or the chief’s office you get red-flagged. I was told my points would never expire but then when I recently went to use them, I was told they were expired. I never received any notification of the change in rules. When I said I would do a review, one of the slot workers said "Go ahead, it won't do anything." He went on to say if they lose one, there are 20 more suckers that walk through the door. Vegas at least appreciates their customers and understand their value and that customers are who pay the bills and the salaries of the employees. I do not see that at Choctaw. They hide behind the fact they are not governed by the state and with that, think they can do what they want and make the rules, of course, to protect their pockets which is the only driver. I understand it is a business and they are out to make money but a good business understands the value of taking care of customers so they return. The machines have been tightened. One of the gaming commissioners for the Nation was there and I heard the VGT programmer come up to him and ask what to do when the screen turns red and goes into bonus mode. The manager said to remove the bingo ball. I made the comment that it appears they do control the payouts if that is what they are doing and he said yes. So, it is not "random" for payouts. He said they do control the payouts but would not acknowledge it was random. On another occasion, one of the VGT managers, who was quitting that week, came and sat next to me and said he could not wait to get out of there. I asked why the screens were not turning red. He said he was tired of coming in on Monday and Tuesday for a weekly bashing of hearing the Nation bickering because profits were down and the only thing we could do was remove more bingo numbers from the pattern. And that would then cause the payout to be less. There are two people in players club that told me if you call and complain on an employee, even if you are in the right, you are red-flagged and they said I am red-flagged. I hope this helps someone that is thinking of driving out to Durant Oklahoma. I hope others decide to also speak out. awynn

3 Stars Overall Video Poker
The MGM National Harbor, the last of Maryland's casinos to be approved since casino gambling was legalized here several years ago, has arrived. There are some fair vp options consisting of 10 game king slant top machines located in the rear left side of the video poker section, parallel to the poker room. These machines offer 9/5- 98.5 Jacks or Better, 9/6-Double Double Bonus-98.98, and 9/7 Double Bonus-99.10 at $1, $2, and $5. I believe there are several other games on these 10 machines that also fall between 98-99% return, including Bonus Poker, Bonus Poker Deluxe and some a few Triple Bonus Poker options, but didn't write the paytables down to research and confirm this....The real problem here is you have to gamble $35 to earn 1 slot club point on these machines, kind of a bummer. I can't really comment on comps and mailings yet, but will update if I get anything worthwhile. ...One plus, is they have been running a promotion on Thursdays the past few months where you can get between $5 and $1000 in free slot play for every 100 points earned. This can be done up to 5 times per Thursday. I have found that at least for the 10 game king machines they actually give you the free play offer for every 25 points earned, whereas it is 100 points for slots. This is not advertised but has been the case the past two months. A small concession to vp players. Thursdays appear to be the day to go right now, but overall the $35 coin in to earn 1 point on the 10 game king machines with the okay but not great games is a real bummer. I haven't played the other vp machines I observed with lesser pay tables, so cannot comment on what the coin is for a slot club point on these machines. ....The drink service has been pretty good here, at least for me, so far, with cocktail waitresses making the round fairly regularly. This place has Horseshoe and Maryland Live beat in terms of what they offer if you're a dollar vp player, but the slot club puts a damper in that. zambrano1

4 Stars Overall Video Poker
I have been a long time (25 years) player at the Ojibwa Casino in Baraga Michigan. Baraga was the FIRST native casino in the USA, Started by Fred Dakota a tribal member in 1983. The current casino is very old , could use new air handlers and air conditioning. The gaming is pretty solid. I have gambled in probably 50 other casinos here in the U.S. and abroad. Casinos are built to make money so keeping that in mind Baraga does a decent job of giving back to players. I am not a comps user so I cannot speak on that but I have won a considerable sum playing video poker and dollar slots. I do not play the 1 cent video game type machines. There is a plan to build a brand new Casino as they should. I rate Baraga a 3.9 out of 5 for gaming. Staff is friendly and the drinks affordable. RJAY

Good value for medium limit players. The ACES and Eights at 50 cent level 100%+ payback and the Bonus Poker 25 cent with progressive on royals, str. flush, 4 aces and bonus 4 of kind are best bets. Combined with good slot club (cash back plus meal and room comps) make this one of the best values on the strip. Dining choices are limited but the steak house and pizza shop are above average. Rooms are so so. Still offers FREE parking. mconn
