The Deadwood Mountain Grand is no longer one of best places in Deadwood to play video poker, nor to gamble for that matter, although they have the newest IGT multi-game machines in the area. Best game to play is 8/5 JOB. During multiple point hours it makes it an ok play. Multiple point hours, discretionary comps, bounce back and monthly promo cash are at the whim of the new GM and have been reduced tremendously in the last 30 days. Tier system levels are also at the whim of the GM and requirements have been increased 50-100% in the last month; levels fluctuate monthly after the fact, meaning it is impossible to plan in advance how much money to play through the machines to hit a certain tier level because you do not know where that tier level will be until the month is over. As far as I know this is the only casino in the area that operates this way. Personally, I lost $160 in free play this month, that I felt was I had earned and was due me, and over the next 2 months I will lose another $320 minimum that should had already been earned. Oh well, they won't get my business anymore. Staff and service is very friendly, but can't do anything about policy. There is an excellent restaurant that serves very high quality food at reasonable prices, though it is somewhat limited. Daily lunch specials are also available from $4-$7. I would rate the quality of the rooms as 4 star. I will no longer personally play there, unless things change back more to what they were. Moderator.
