Overall Video Poker
The Queen has been scrapped--and so have any decent paytables. This casino used to have a "whopping" 3 machines that offered 10/6/sf200 Double Double Bonus (99.95%) in .25, .50 and 1.00, and a plethora of other games that were around the upper 98% return. Not good by any means, but grandiose compared to the present. Most games have been butchered 1-3 coins at some position in the low end of the paytables. Now, there is only one game in the entire casino in that upper 98% range: it is PNSU/Illinois Deuces (1-2-3-4-4-9-15-25-200-800). It is at the bar, and at .25 denomination. There are about 6-8 stations, and you will have to hunt like crazy to find it among all the "donk" paytables, but I think it is on the standard Action Gaming triple play poker game. It is so lousy I really didn't concern myself with remembering such a measly top offering. I was also eager to depart quickly as the bar seems to be the natural environment of the cancerphilous chainsmoking species IowanNebraskanus. You could probably get your fix without even lighting up, and I'm not eager to play bad paytables.
I played professionally in Reno for decades, and am shocked at the outright greed--they expect to public to pay for their upgrades, and quickly, not gradually. I'm also bewildered by the general acquiescence of the public to accept such garbage can paytables. For example, 7/5 JoB (they have 6/5 too!), 7/5 Bonus DeLuxe (ditto on 6/5 here), deuces wild that pays only 20 for wild royals (should be 25) and 12 for 5 of a kinds (should be at least 15), etc. I could go on at length, but I'll stop by just saying that I've seen many Indian casinos with better offerings. In particular, the higher limit VP is often worse that the .25 and 1.00 levels. EEECH!
What really annoys me the most is that the staff is all smiles and sweetness, while sticking their guests in the back. I personally find it very disgraceful and shameful, especially since many of these people are elderly, with some even being bussed in from retirement homes.
On the plus side, the restaurants, lodgings and other amenities seem top rate. I'm no connoisseur, but I find the food and lodgings outstanding. For what you are paying in the casino, you deserve at least that.
In closing, I will recommend something never thought I would. If you must play here, find the best paytable you can and play one coin at a time. You will definitely lose much less, and the loss of the 800 coin royal is nothing when compared to cutting your losses at max bet on very poor games. Save your money for a trip to Vegas or Reno.
